Mixing acrylic and latex paints
One way to find out. I did this a long time ago. When you put a slow-drying glaze on top of a cheaper base paint, the paint re-opens and "grabs" on to the glaze making it difficult to remove and manipulate. There is no practical way for a home user to test how long it will last.
It went on smoothly, dried normally and after 3 seasons including a harsh winter it still looks great. I noticed a slight marble look in some areas after it faded. When painting, work is passing several stages, the mix acrylic and latex paint owners are left with remnants of latex or acrylic paint. It is also important to paint with a mixed paint surface area, wait for it to dry and assess the quality of a painting. It wasn't horribly noticeable to others since they didn't live there but we noticed it when up close.
